About Jeff

Jeff Heyden-Kaye is a professional communicator based in Central Alberta with a Master of the Arts in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University.

A passion for strategic planning, Jeff has professional experience in organizational change, crisis and issues management, marketing and project planning, stakeholder engagement, research, and more. He brings a balance of real-world experience and foundational knowledge of communication theories to benefit organizational goals.

An award-winning editorial writer and photographer, Jeff is a long-term planner.

Award-winning photography

Jeff’s experience as a professional photographer has given him experience capturing Pope Francis’s visit to Maskwacis for the Samson and Ermineskin Cree Nations, as well as professional sporting events such as the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.

As a professional events photographer for and an editorial photographer for Black Press, Jeff has captured news, community and sports events of all range and size. His work has taken him across Alberta including documentary photography work in Fort McMurray.

Media Relations

Jeff has taken his understanding of news media and developed positive working relationships with area journalists. He has applied his skills to help organizations through issues and crisis management, and understands how important it is to build trust.

Marketing and Design

Using strategic planning as the template, Jeff has created award-winning newspaper designs and applies those skills in his current role as the department head in marketing and sponsorship. Using the vision and mission as the guide, Jeff creates dynamic marketing materials for a variety of channels.

Jeff helps in the budget and event planning to ensure strategic goals are met. It’s a fun and creative part of the work as a content creator for his organization.
