Working on the success of my previous collaboration, we had another recent residency project for an Edmonton-based contemporary circus company. Called, Firefly Theatre and Circus, the company worked on a brand new piece at the Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre in Camrose with a residency prior to the performance.
Why a residency?
For us at the theatre, it’s a chance to celebrate the arts, enhance our offerings to the community, and give other performing arts organizations a chance to develop their creative works. For organizers, the residency provides creative flow and direction in a professional stage with lights, sound, and placement being their focus before the big show.
The collaboration came in the form of meeting with the executive director and artistic director of a performance called Éphémère that changed its shape and focus. It was quite a performance. See the interview and preview clips I shot and edited below.
